Weekly Wash #17: Spiral Scrubbers

Today I finally talked my husband into taking me to a local attraction, “the Spiral Jetty”. It is about an hour from my house and something people come from all over to see. I have lived here my entire life and up until about 15 years ago I had no idea it even existed.

Brookie enjoyed the ride too.

This is really interesting to me. It was made in 1970 (same age as me!) by a man named Robert Smithson. Using over six thousand tons of black basalt rocks and earth from the site (on the northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake), Smithson formed a coil 1,500 feet long and 15 feet wide. Here is a cool video you might like to see that shows it really well: Spiral Jetty

It was a fun little drive and really nice to get out of the house. We were SHOCKED to see how many other people had the same idea we had. Since this is in his area as a County Sheriff he is familiar with the area and said it is unusual to see more than just a few people there, if any. Well, that was not the case today.

We did sit and people watch for a bit. Of course I pulled out my supplies and started a spiral scrubbie.

This new scrubber is really easy and fairly quick to whip up. It can be made any size and is based on my “Wavy Layers Scrubbie“.
