Free Crochet Pattern: Little Heart Pillow

I needed a stuffed heart, about 7″, to go with something for Valentine’s Day. I realized my heart from “Happy Embellishments” pattern was just the right size. I made two of the “fat hearts”, crocheted them together, stuffed them and added a ruffle. It was perfect!

I will share a picture of what I used this little pillow for later this week.

This pattern is the first in my “7 days of LOVEly freebies” as I count down to Valentine’s Day 2021. A list of all of the patterns available so far can be found below:

  • Day 2: Chunky Puff Heart Cowl
  • Day 3: Abigail’s Headband
  • Day 4: Full of Hope Convertible Beanie
  • Day 5: LuLu’s Beanie
  • Day 6: Betty and Barnaby Beanie
  • Day 7: Flower Pot Memos

10. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st to end of row.

  1. Repeat the previous row 3 more times.

12-16. Repeat steps 4-8. Do not finish off after the last row.

  1. Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc evenly down the side of the heart, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in the tip of the heart. Sc evenly up the side of the heart. 2sc in first st of top row, sc 2, 2sc in last st, sc down the side of heart, working sc2tog in the valley. Sc evenly up the side of the heart. 2sc in first st of the top row, sc in each st until 1 st remains, sl st to join.
Finish off and weave in ends.

Shaping: At this point, the top edges of the heart will probably be a little square like the photo below, left.
With a little finger shaping (lightly tugging at each corner), the heart will be more rounded like the photo below, right.

Assembly

Stack the two hearts on top of each other, wrong sides together. Attach matching yarn (red in sample) to the outer edge of the hearts. Working through both layers, ch 1, sc in each st around, stuffing the heart as you go. Finish off and weave in ends.

Ruffle: Attach white yarn to a st on the outer edge. Ch 4, hdc in the same st, *(hdc, ch 2, hdc) in the next st*, repeat to end of round. Finish off and weave in ends.
