About the Patterns

The pattern for the main “Snappy Organizer”, which includes January is available for free at this link, plus there are links to the monthly sets (posted on the 15th of each month for the next month). December Crochet Patterns

These are designed to be used with the “Snappy Organizer”.

erials and Details

  • Yarn: less than 50 yards each of red, white, lime green, yellow, dark brown, dark green, black, grey
  • Crochet Hook: H (5mm)
  • Miscellaneous: Yarn needle, 2 large snaps to match the calendar

Tips

  • Numbers at the beginning of each line may refer to steps and not indicate number of rows.
  • Stitch count remains the same unless noted at end of row.

Santa Hat

1. With an H hook and red yarn, ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next ch. (2sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, sc 2.

3. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc. (3sts)

4. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 2. (4sts)

5. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 3. (5sts)

6. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 4. (6sts)

7. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 5. (7sts)

8. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 6. (8sts)

9. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 7. (9sts)

10-11. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. 

12. Finish off the red yarn and change to white yarn. Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st to end of row.

13. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, *FPHDC around the next post, BPHDC around the next post*, repeat 3 more times, sc in the last st. Finish off and weave in ends.

Pompom: Cut a piece of white yarn 18” long. Cut another piece of white yarn 4” long and set aside. Wrap the longer yarn piece around two fingers several times. Carefully slide the loops off of your fingers. Use the 4” piece of yarn to tie around the middle of the loops and tie a knot. Trim the loops to create a pompom. Pull the yarn tails apart to fluff the pompom. Use the remaining yarn from the 4” piece to tie the pompom to the tip of the Santa hat. Fold the hat tail down towards the hat and tie in place.

Heart: With a yarn needle and dark green yarn, create a heart shape on the hat by stitching a V shape.

Tree

1. With an H hook and lime green yarn, ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next ch. (2sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc. (3sts)

3. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 2. (4sts)

4. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 3. (5sts)

5. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 4. (6sts)

6. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 5. (7sts)

7. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 6. (8sts)

8. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 7. (9sts)

9. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 7, 2sc in the last st. (11sts)

10. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in the same st, sc 9, 2sc in the last st. (13sts)

11. Ch 1, turn, loosely sl st in each st across. Finish off and weave in ends.

Trunk: With an H hook and brown yarn, ch 5, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch. (4sts) Finish off and weave in ends. 

With a yarn needle, use a piece of lime green yarn to sew one end of the trunk to the back of the tree. 

Star: With an H hook and yellow yarn, *ch 3, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in the next ch*, repeat four more times. Sl st in the very first chain (base of the first point). Finish off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing in place.

With a yarn needle, use the yarn tail to weave in and out of the center of the star and cinch together. Use the remaining yarn to sew the center of the star to the tip of the tree. 

Ornaments (make 3-8)

1. With an H hook and red or green yarn, create a magic circle of 6 sc sts (or preferred method for making a circle of 6 sc sts), pull closed and sl st to join. (6sts) 

2. Ch 1, 2sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. (12sts)

3. Ch 1, *sc, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (18sts) 

4. Loosely sl st in each st to end of round.

5. Finish off the yarn and chance to grey yarn. Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in the next st. (2sts)

6. Ch 1, turn, sl st 2.  Finish off and weave in ends.

With a yarn needle and white yarn, stitch one letter on each circle.

Cut a piece of black yarn long enough to thread through each “ornament”. With a yarn needle, thread the black yarn through each grey ornament top.

Assembly

  • See the main photo for sewing the Santa hat and tree together, overlapping in the middle.
  • Snaps: Sew two coordinating snap pieces to the back of the hat and tree piece so they line up with the snaps on the organizer.
