Every goose needs a cowboy hat, right? This little hat was designed after a flood of requests following the death of Dolly Parton, as so many of you wanted to dress your geese in tribute to her. The hat is crocheted with a tall, rounded crown and then shaped after it is finished to create that classic cowboy crease and turned-up brim. Make it in Dolly-worthy pink with a little sparkle, choose traditional western colors, or customize it to coordinate with an outfit you already have. I’ll also be sharing several of my existing goose outfits that would be perfect for creating your own Dolly-inspired look. Cowboy Hat Crochet Pattern – 23” and 28” Goose

• 23” use an H hook; 28” use an I hook
• This is created with a tall, rounded top which will be creased after hat is complete.

1. With a hook and worsted weight yarn (Sample: Pretty N Pink), start with a magic circle of 8 sc stitches (or preferred method of starting a circle of 8 sc sts), pull to close and sl st to join. (8sts)
2.  Ch 1, 2sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. (16sts)
3.  Ch 1, *sc 3, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (20sts)
4.  Ch 1, *sc 4, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (24sts)
5.  Ch 1, *sc 5, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (28sts)
6.  Ch 1, *sc 6, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (32sts)
7.  Ch 1, *sc 7, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (36sts)
8.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
9.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
10. Change to worsted weight yarn for the hatband (Sample: Shocking Pink), sl st on each st to end of round. Note: since I changed back to the main color after the hatband on the sample, I did not finish off the main color yarn. 
11.  Ch 1, sc in BLO of each st to end of round, sl st to join. 
12.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
13.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
14.  Finish off the hatband yarn and continue with the main color. Ch 1, sc in BLO of each st to end of round, sl st to join. 
15.  Ch 1, sc in FLO of each st to end of round, sl st to join.
16.  Ch 1, *sc 2, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (48sts)
17.  Ch 1, *sc 3, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (60sts)
18.  Ch 1, *sc 4, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (72sts)
19.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
20.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
21.  Turn, sl st in each st to end of round. Finish off and weave in ends.

Shaping the top: lay a finger across the top to create a long dent. Slightly pinch the front to form the shape. Fold up the sides. See photos on the 17”/19” size for creating the dent.

Cowboy Hat Crochet Pattern – 17” and 19” Goose

• This is created with a tall, rounded top which will be creased after hat is complete.
• This is designed to fit both a 17” and 19” goose.

1. With an F hook and worsted weight yarn (Sample: Pretty N Pink), start with a magic circle of 8 sc stitches (or preferred method of starting a circle of 8 sc sts), pull to close and sl st to join. (8sts)
2.  Ch 1, 2sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. (16sts)
3.  Ch 1, *sc 3, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (20sts)
4.  Ch 1, *sc 4, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (24sts)
5.  Ch 1, *sc 5, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (28sts)
6.  Ch 1, *sc 6, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (32sts)
7.  Ch 1, *sc 7, 2sc in the next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (36sts)
8.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
9.  Ch 1, sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join.
