About the Patterns

February Calendar Pieces Crochet Patterns

These are designed to be used with the “Snappy Organizer”.

Materials 

  • Yarn: Less than 100 yards each – Worsted weight yarn in red, pink, white, tan
  • Crochet Hooks: H
  • Miscellaneous Supplies: Yarn needle, 2 small black buttons per bear, sewing needle, black thread, 18” red ribbon

Directions

Heart Tiles (make 3-8; alternate colors red and pink)

1. With red or pink yarn and an H hook, ch 2, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook. (2sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in same hook, 2sc in next hook. (4sts)

3. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

4. Ch 1, turn, 2sc in same st, sc 2, 2sc in last st. (6sts)

5. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

6. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, sc 2. Leave remaining sts unworked. (3sts)

7. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc. Finish off.

8. Attach yarn to first unused st of step #6 (either end of row). Ch 1, sc in same st, sc 2. (3sts)

9. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc. Finish off.

10. Attach yarn to bottom tip of heart. Ch 1, sc in tip, sc 7 sts evenly up the side of the heart, 3hdc in the top of the first half of the heart. Sc in the side of this half of the heart, sl st in the valley. Sc in the side of the next half of the heart, 3hdc in the top of the next half of the heart, sc 7 sts evenly down the side of the heart, ch 1, sl st in the first st. Finish off and weave in ends.

Embroidery / Letters
With a yarn needle and white yarn, stitch one letter to each tile. 

Small Heart Between Bears (make 1)
1.5” across

1. With an H hook and red ww yarn, start with a magic circle of 8 sts (or preferred method for starting a circle of 8 sc  sts), sl st to join. (8sts)

2. Sl st in next st, (sc, hdc, dc 2, hdc) in next st, hdc 2, (hdc, ch 2,  sl st in 2nd ch from hook, hdc) in next st, hdc 2, (hdc, dc 2, hdc, sc) in next st, sl st in next sp (between posts) to join. Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing in place. Set aside.

Bears (make 2 – one white, one tan)
1. With an H hook and ww yarn, start with a magic circle of 8 sts (or preferred method for starting a circle of 8 sc  sts), sl st to join. (8sts)

2. Ch 1, 2sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. (16sts)

3. Ch 1, *sc, 2sc in next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (24sts)

4. Ch 1, *sc 3, 2sc in next st*, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. (30sts)

5. This step creates the ears. Ch 2, 3dc in same st, ch 1, sl st in next st, sl st 22, sl st in next st, 3dc in same st, ch 1, sl st in next st. Finish off and weave in ends.

With a yarn needle and red or pink yarn, stitch a v shape/heart in the middle of the circle for a nose. Stitch straight down from the nose.

With a sewing needle and thread, sew 2 small black buttons above the nose for the eyes. 

Bow (optional): Pull one end of a piece of ribbon through a stitch near the inside edge of one of years. Tie a bow. Trim ends. 

Snaps: Place each bear on one snap already sewn to the organizer to find placement. Sew a coordinating snap piece to the back of each bear at approximately the center back of the bear.

With a yarn needle, use the yarn tail from the small heart to sew one edge of the heart to one edge of the bear. Repeat for opposite edge. See main photo for placement.
