August Crochet Pack

About the Patterns

The pattern for the main “Snappy Organizer”, which includes January is available for free at this link, plus there are links to the monthly sets (posted on the 15th of each month for the next month). If you would like to work ahead, the packs of all of the monthly patterns are available to purchase.

August’s Crochet Patterns

These are designed to be used with the “Snappy Organizer”.

Materials and Details

  • Yarn: less than 50 yards each of black, white, yellow, red, brown. Sample colors: RHSS Bright Yellow, White, Cherry Red, Bright Yellow, Coffee Brown
  • Crochet Hook: H (5mm)
  • Miscellaneous: Yarn needle, 2 large snaps to match the calendar, sewing needle and matching thread

Tips

  • Stitch count remains the same unless noted at end of row.

Directions – Apple

1. With an H hook and red yarn, create a magic circle of 5 sc sts (or preferred method for creating a circle of 5 sc sts), pull closed and sl st to join. (5sts)

2. Ch 1, 2hdc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. (10sts)

3. Ch 1, sc in same st, (sc, hdc, dc, hdc) in next st, (hdc, sc) in next st, sc, (2hdc, ch 1, sl st) in next  st, (sl st, 2hdc) in next st, sc, (sc, hdc) in next st, (hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in next st, sc, sl st to join. 

4. Finish off the red yarn. Attach brown yarn to the center dip at the top of the apple. Ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sl st, sl st in apple. Finish off and weave in ends.

Directions – Bus

1. With an H hook and yellow yarn, ch 12, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (11sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in each st across.

3. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each across. (10sts)

4. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, sc 7. (8sts) Leave remaining sts unworked.

5. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, sc 7.

6. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog. (6sts) Finish off and weave in ends.

Stop Sign: With an H hook and red yarn, create a magic circle of 6 sc sts (or preferred method for creating a circle of 6 sc sts), pull closed and sl st to join. (6sts) Finish off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing to the bus.

Wheels (make 2) : With an H hook and black yarn, create a magic circle of 6 sc sts (or preferred method for creating a circle of 6 sc sts), pull closed and sl st to join. (6sts) Finish off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing to the bus.

Large Window: With an H hook and black yarn, ch 6, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5sts). Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in each st across. Finish off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing to the bus.

With a yarn needle, use the yarn tail from each item to sew it to the bus. See the main photo for placement.

Window Divisions: With a yarn needle and yellow yarn, stitch yellow lines over the black window to divide it into thirds.

Assembly

  • Follow main calendar pattern to create the tiles in black yarn, with white stitching. Attach the tiles to the calendar with brads or desired items.
  • Snaps:
    • Overlap the side of the apple and bus.
    • Use a yarn needle and matching yarn to sew the layers together.
    • Center the pieces over the snaps already sewn to the organizer to find placement. Sew two coordinating snap pieces to the backs of the bus and apple so they line up with the snaps on the organizer.
