Mini Boo Banner Crochet Pattern

Materials and Measurements

  • Yarn: Worsted weight, small amounts of Orange, Yellow, White, Black, Purple
  • Crochet Hook: H (5mm)
  • Miscellaneous Supplies: Yarn needle, Sewing needle and thread, 2 small black buttons, 18” rope/jute
  • Measurements: 18” long; Candy Corn – 3.5” x 3.5”; Ghosts -4.5”

Tips

  • First stitch of each row is worked into the same  stitch as the turning chain.
  • Numbers at the beginning of each line may refer to  steps and not indicate number of rows.
  • Instructions are written with color changes as shown in sample. Substitute colors as desired.
  • Reminder: sc 3 = sc one st in each of the next 3 sts; 3sc in next st = work 3sc sts in the next (one) st.

Candy Corn Triangles (make 3 triangles)

1. With an H hook and worsted weight yarn (Sample: Pumpkin), ch 17, sl st in the 6th ch from hook, sc 10, (sl st, ch 5, sl st) in the next st. 

2. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in the next 11 sts.

3. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 8, sc2tog. (10sts)

4. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st an in each st to end of row.

5. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog. (8sts)

6. Change to yellow yarn (Sample: Bright Yellow). Ch 1, turn, sc in each st to end of row.

7. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog. (6sts)

8. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st to end of row.

9. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog. (4sts)

10. Change to white yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st to end of row.

11. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc2tog. (2sts)

12.. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog. Finish off and weave in end. 

With a yarn needle and black yarn, stitch a letter to each triangle, spelling B-O-O.

With a yarn needle, use the beginning yarn tails to sew each triangle to the bottom middle of the topper.

1. With an H hook and worsted weight white yarn, ch 13, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (12sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 8, sc2tog. (10sts)

3. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 8. (9sts)

4. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in each st to end of row. 

5. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc 7. (8sts)

6. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in each st to end of row. 

7. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc, hdc 5. (7sts)

8. Ch 1, turn, hdc in the same st, hdc 3, sc 3. 

9. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc, hdc 4. (6sts)

10. Ch 1, turn, hdc in the same st, hdc 2, sc 3.

11. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc, hdc 2, ch 8, sc.

12. This step is worked around the outer edge of the ghost. Sc 10 sts evenly down the side of the ghost, 2sc in the first st on the bottom row, sc 10, (sc, hdc, dc) in the last st, ch 1, sc 10 sts evenly up the side of the ghost, sc 4 (across the top of the ghost), sc 8 around the ch, sl st. Finish off and weave in ends. 

Flip one ghost over before adding the face. 

Mouth: With a yarn needle and black yarn, stitch the smile in place. 

Assembly

  • Lay the flags on a flat surface and decide the order they will hang. 

Tie a loop in each end to make it easy to hang your banner.

Thread one end of the rope through the top loops of each flag. I added 3 wooden beads between each flag as I threaded these together. Instead of beads you would tie bows of raffia, jute, fabric, or leave the rope plain.
