Based on my “Super Scrubbies” pattern, these round scrubbers are tough enough for dishes, but soft enough for the shower.
Spiral Pumpkins Crochet Pattern
The crochet pattern for these scrubbers is available for free below.
Materials & Details
- Yarn: small amounts of orange and green cotton yarn.
- Crochet Hoosk: H (5mm), J (6mm)
- Miscellaneous: Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Measurements: Small – 4″ across; Large – 5.75″ across
Directions
- Both sizes start the same.
- For the large pumpkin, I started with a darker orange and changed to a brighter orange halfway through just for fun.
1. With a J hook and orange yarn, start with a magic circle of 8 hdc sts (or preferred method for starting a circle of 8 hdc sts), pull closed and place marker for working in the round. Do not join. (8sts)
2. Work 2 FPHDC around each post from previous round. (16sts)
3. *FPHDC around next post, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (24sts) Change to medium blue yarn. The best way to do this is to finish off the last st of this round with the new color.
4. *FPHDC 2, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (32sts)
5. *FPHDC 3, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (40sts) Change to light blue yarn.
6. *FPHDC 4, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (48sts) Finish off here for the smaller pumpkin and pull all yarn tails to the wrong side of the piece.
7. *FPHDC 5, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (56sts)
8. *FPHDC 6, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (64sts)
9. *FPHDC 7, 2 FPHDC around next post*, repeat to end of round. (72sts)
Finish off and pull all yarn tails to the wrong side of the piece.
Small Stem
1. With an H hook, attach green yarn to a st on the outer edge, right by a “rib” created by the increases. Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc 2. (3sts)
2. Ch 1, 2sc in the same st, sc 2. (4sts)
3. Ch 1, turn, 2hdc in the same st, sc 2, sl st. Finish off and weave in end. (5sts)
Large Stem
1. With an H hook, attach green yarn to a st on the outer edge, right by a “rib” created by the increases. Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc 4. (5sts)
2. Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st and in each st across.
3. Ch 1, turn, 2hdc in the same st, sc 3, sl st. Finish off and weave in end. (6sts)
