Free Pattern: Little Toughies Wash Cloth

Smaller cloths like these really come in handy, especially with a dense weave. They hold together and are the right size for cleaning the kitchen, but soft enough for little baby toes too.

Little Toughies Wash Cloth

Materials

Yarn: 100% cotton

Hooks: H

Misc: yarn needle for securing ends.

Size: 6″ square

Directions

  1. With H hook and cotton yarn, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (20sts)

2. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *sl st in next st, hdc in next st*, repeat until 1 st remains, sc in last st.

3. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *sl st in next st (top of hdc from previous row), hdc in next st*, repeat until one st remains, sc in last st.

4. Repeat previous row until desired length (sample is square).

5. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st to end of row.

6. Border (optional): This step is worked around outer edge of cloth. Do not turn. Ch 1, sc in same st, sc evenly along edge of cloth, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner, sc across bottom edge of cloth, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in last st, sc evenly along edge of cloth, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in last st, sc across top edge of cloth. Sl st to join.

Finish off and weave in ends.
