Free Pattern: Pretty N Easy Dishcloth

For week 10, I designed a dish cloth using a stitch I have been playing with lately. I have named the stitch a “chunky hdc stitch“. This cloth works up quickly and has a nice look to it.

YO twice, insert hook in designated st, pull up a loop, YO and pull through all loops on hook.
Tip: As you pull through the loops, pull through two, slightly rotate hook and pull through the other two loops. That will make it easier to get through the loops.

Directions

1. With an I hook and cotton yarn, create a fhdc of 20 sts. (20sts)

If preferred, start with a regular chain of 21 sts, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (20sts)

2 – 15. Ch 1, turn, chunky hdc in each st to end of row.

At this point, the cloth should be close to a square. Add more rows if needed.

16. Ch 1, turn, chunky hdc in each st until one st remains, (hdc, 2 sc) in last st.

17. Ch 1, do not turn. This step is worked around the outer edge of the entire cloth. Sc evenly along side of cloth, 3sc in corner, sc across bottom of cloth, 3sc in corner, sc evenly along side of cloth, 3sc in corner, sc across cloth, sl st to first st to join.

18. Ch 1, *sc in the next st, ch 1*, repeat around outer edge of the block.

Note: do not skip any sts as part of the repeat. The “ch 1” creates a little ripple to the edge.

Finish off and weave in ends.

I like using Peaches and Cream yarn for my scrubbies. It comes in large cones for approximately $8.00 and $2.00 for the small skeins.
